Born Virginie Fernandez, Virginie took on the name Ledoyen because it was the maiden name of her grandmother, who had been a stage actress. At the age of 2, Virginie Ledoyen was already doing modeling for print and being cast in television advertisements. She has also been part of numerous french movies and due to her part in the film La Fille Seule in 1995, she got a nomination for a Cesar Award, which is actually France's own version of the Oscar.
She made her way into the international scene when she was cast for the movie The Beach. She is also a spokesmodel for L'Oréal.
