Serena Williams

Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Serena Williams became a tennis superstar at an early age, winning her first tournament at the tender age of four and a half. She then went on to compete in 49 tournaments before she reached the age of ten and succeeded in winning 46 of those. At one point, she became ranked as the number 1 tennis player age 10 or under in California, a title that her sister Venus once held also.

At the age of 14, Serena became a professional tennis player. However, due to her age, she had to compete in non-WTA (Women's Tennis Association) events first. By the year 1997, she was ranked as number 304 in the world and by the end of that same year, she was already ranked as number 99.
