Nelly Furtado

Nelly Kim Furtado was born on December 2, 1978 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada to Portuguese parents Maria Manuela and Antonio Jose Furtado. Nelly, a recognized international singer/songwriter, instrumentalist and record producer, realized her musical skills at a very early age. She started singing when she was just four years old, learned how to play musical instruments when she was nine, and started writing songs when she was twelve.

Nelly released her debut album in October 2004 called "Whoa, Nelly!". One of the international singles in the album, "I'm like a Bird," is her favorite song which also earned her a "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" Grammy Award in 2002. She released her second album entitled "Folklore" in November 2003, and her latest album called "Loose" in June 2006.
