Considered as a sex goddess and Hollywood icon, Norma Jean aka "Marilyn Monroe" remains to be a popular personage these days. Despite a troubled childhood, Monroe was able to pursue an acting career and enrolled at the UCLA.
Her memorable films included "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "Niagara" which were both released in 1953. These two movies introduced Monroe as a sex goddess, complete with a platinum blonde hairstyle and a curvaceous figure.
She was married to baseball superstar Joe DiMaggio but the relationship didn't last long. Her acting career slowly went down the path because of her personal problems concerning drug addiction and depression. On August 5, 1962, Monroe committed suicide.
