Born in the small town of Charlemagne, Quebec, and the youngest of 14 children, Celine Dion has undoubtedly become one of our all-time greatest singers. At the tender age of 12, Dion was able to compose a song in French and send it to a record company. That move earned her the attention of her manager and would-be husband, René Angélil, who actually mortgaged his house to finance her first album.
Although she was already popular internationally, it was when she sang the Disney hit Beauty and the Beast that Dion was able to burst into the U.S. stage. After that, her songs gained much recognition and her 'Falling Into You' album became the best-selling album on the year it was released. In 1999, though, Dion prioritized her want of beginning a family and thus took a hiatus from her singing career.
She returned in 2002 by releasing an album, and in 2003, she made a 3-year commitment to performing in an arena in Las Vegas.
