Before she even got into acting, Topanga, California local Amy Lysle Smart started her show business career in modeling. She used to be a fashion model working in France, Italy, Tahiti, and Mexico at the very young age of thirteen. But due to a twisted move of fate, a role in the MTV Rock the Vote campaign in 1994 pushed her off the ramps and on to the silver screens.
However, it took her quite sometime to penetrate the movie industry. As a newbie, she started at the bottom, taking minor roles, such as the one she played in Starship Troopers in 1997. But as most actors and actresses have, her break came in 1999 when she co-starred with James Van Der Beek in the teen-hit movie Varsity Blues where she was also spotted for having great potential.
