Photographer sues Rihanna over S&M Video

A photographer named David LaChapelle is claiming that Rihanna lifted some images for her S&M video. According to the civil complaint, LaChappelle, a fashion photographer, claims that Rihanna's music video is "directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works."

At issue are eight images including one where Rihanna is shown in profile with a blue background and a piece of candy on her tongue.

The photographer is claiming that the video copied the "composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, records, wardrobe, and lighting" of his images. It is still unclear as to how much he is claiming in damages. Rihanna's legal counsel has not responded yet.
