Emmy Rossum was born on September 12, 1986. She is an American actress, singer and songwriter. She first starred in the 2000 film Songcatcher; and was later followed by two more consecutive films. Her career boomed when she played a starring role in the movie Mystic River in 2003 and in the blockbuster hit The Day After Tomorrow in 2004. She was nominated for a Golden Globe in the 2004 film The Phantom of the Opera. Emmy Rossum released her first album, Inside Out in 2007. In January 2011, her TV drama series Shameless started airing. She plays the lead role on the said TV series.
