Starting her show business career way back when she was still in grade school, Bai Ling has gone through a lot, including being enlisted in the Chinese People's Liberation Army when she was just fourteen, having to entertain soldiers in Tibet for three years. She has appeared in some Chinese movies back when she was still in China, the first one being the movie On The Beach. Other Chinese movies that she has appeared in are Suspended Sentence, Yueyue, and Tears In Suzhou. It was her role in the movie Arc Light, though, that gave her fame.
She migrated to the United States in the year 1991 and has since then appeared in lots of movies like Anna And The King, The Crow, and Wild Wild West. She has also been featured in some magazine covers.

Bai Ling was finally free of theft charges today after a judge gave her a $200 fine. She was charged on February 14th, 2008 with stealing a pack of batteries and two magazines from an airport store.
