The famous R&B singer Ashanti was born on October 13, 1980 in Glen Cove, New York. Her full name is Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas. She is the voice behind the hit song Foolish, which is included in her famous and Grammy award-winning self-titled debut album. Just after a week of its release in the US, Ashanti's album already sold 503,000 copies.

Aside from that, another mark that Ashanti left on the American music industry was her record of holding the top two ranks on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with her songs Foolish and What's Luv. After some time on that same week, she was able to add another one of her song, Always on Time, within the top ten position. It was said that she was the first female performer to reach an achievement of having three songs in the Top Ten charts, second to the Beatles.
